Fire at Pasaraya Blok M Extinguished

As many as 30 personnel South Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency extinguished fire that burned Pasaraya Blok M on Jalan Iskandarsyah II, Melawai Urban Village, Kebayoran Baru Sub-district.

South Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency Head, Syamsul Huda said the incident that happened on 8th floor of Pasaraya Blok M Building was reported at 1:16 PM.

"We deployed eight firetrucks with 30 personnel to extinguish the fire," he said, Wednesday (2/19).

Huda admitted the fire came from the Air Handling Unit (AHU) room on the 8th floor of the building.

"Personnel worked hard handle the fire. At 2:35 PM, the extinguishing process completed," he added.

According to him, the employees were already evacuated by building security officers.

"There was no victims caused by the incident," he continued.

Meanwhile, one of the employees, Rizaldi (37), explained thick smoke was seen from the seventh floor. The engineering team then investigated the seventh floor, but there was no fire there.

"After being investigated deeply, the fire then found on eighth floor, AHU room. We appreciate the response of Gulkarmat personnel in handling the incident," he explained.
